job and internship opportunities

The first translation provider in France to obtain ISO 9001:2000 quality certification, Lexcelera relies on its global network of language experts who work as translators, post-editors, interpreters, linguists, terminologists, graphic designers, etc. We are constantly on the look-out for excellent people who share in our commitment to quality.

Computational Linguist/Community and Project Manager

Lexcelera has a position open in Paris for a Computational Linguist/Community and Project Manager. The post calls for a background in machine translation and excellent communication and organizational skills.

This position mixes the traditional roles of Computational Linguist and Project Manager along with a new function in today’s translation environment, that of Community Manager.

As COMPUTATIONAL LINGUIST, your role will be to work within an MT environment in the framework of an EU grant to help identify and test rules for source and target improvements which can impact MT quality.

As PROJECT MANAGER, you will manage localization projects in machine translation from quote to final delivery. You will be aware of and apply all methods of improving quality so as to minimize corrections for the post-editor.

Your COMMUNITY MANAGER tasks will be aimed at training and motivating translators, whether working on traditional localization projects or on special projects with the Translators Without Borders community, which provides humanitarian translations.

You will be called on to build and grow this community using your communications skills.  Your communications tools will include questionnaires, seminars and workshops, video and social media.

The position is based in central Paris, and may involve some European travel.

Internships

Interested in going behind the scenes of a translation company in the heart of Paris? See below for current and future internship opportunities with Lexcelera (Paris office only).

Internship available, starting IMMEDIATELY

We are currently seeking a native speaker of German interested in Machine Translation technology, to start immediately. The internship includes an overview of different MT systems. The intern will learn how to create terminology dictionaries in order to train machine translation engines and achieve optimal translation quality. It will provide valuable hands-on skills with this cutting-edge translation technology, which is rapidly gaining momentum in today’s marketplace.

MT terminology internships require a linguistic background; semantic linguistic expertise would be helpful. Candidates must be native speakers of German as the working languages are English into German. A ‘convention de stage’ or internship agreement from your university or college is mandatory. Please send your CV to Ros Smith-Thomas: recruitment@lexcelera.com

Internship available, starting June 2012

We are seeking an intern interested in working as an assistant to our Project Management Team.

While this internship is not a translating position, it does give interns plenty of hands-on experience in the world of translation as well as the opportunity to learn a variety of programs—including translation tools such as MemoQ and Trados —and to improve their language skills through the preparation of glossaries, for example.

Candidates with working knowledge of CAT tools will be given particular consideration.

Previous interns from Spain, Germany, Canada, Argentina, Great Britain, France, Italy, Venezuela, China, Russia, the Netherlands, USA, etc. have told us they learned more during their time with us than at school!

Please note that this  work placement at Lexcelera is for 6 months and that a ‘convention de stage’ or internship agreement from your school is mandatory.

Please contact Ros Smith-Thomas: recruitment@lexcelera.com if you or your educational institution are interested in knowing more about Lexcelera’s internship opportunities.
